20+ years reviewing 10,000+ slots, breaking down games honestly to help you make smarter choices and have fun.
This week has been a busy one here at OLBG, with a significant update to my Sites with the Best RTPs on Slots guide. Introducing a new slot simulator, I also highlight the new releases at online slot sites.
Digest with 1 weekly news post
New Slot Simulator
Ever wondered what a slot's RTP actually means for your session? I pull back the curtain on OLBG's Slot Simulator (a new modelling tool behind the reviews) and why that headline percentage tells you far less than you'd think.
Here's the problem: RTP is a long-term average measured over billions of spins, not a prediction for your next 100. 2 slot games can both show 96.5% RTP and feel completely different: one drip-feeds small wins, the other pays rarely but big. That difference is volatility, and it's what our simulator makes visible.
What you should know:
- It's a model, not the real game: I use each slot's published figures (RTP, hit frequency, volatility, bonus trigger rate, max win), because studios keep their exact maths under lock and key
- Built on realistic maths: the paytable and session modelling reflect how most sessions actually end below the average, not the fantasy version
- Your money's worth less than RTP suggest because you re-wager winnings, the house edge bites more than once
- Our standard test: 5 sessions of 100 spins at £1, revealing how often a session ends in a loss (usually most of them)
Honest, transparent, and built for players.

Updated Sites with the Best RTPs on Slots Guide
Regarding the Sites with the Best RTPs on Slots guide, I've reframed it from a single operator focus to a comprehensive multi-site comparison, adding a new table to help you pinpoint those high-return opportunities.
Crucially, I've included a callout to clearly distinguish between a site's average win rate and individual game RTP, so there's no confusion. I've also added a handy FAQ section, with in-context links sprinkled throughout for good measure. Plus, the Starburst spins table has been rebuilt as a table to make it easier to digest.
