High Max Win by Slot Provider

With the 5 highest max win slots highlighted above, I thought it would be of interest to provide a table showcasing the slot game with the highest win potential by slot provider (where available). I've listed them from highest to lowest win potential.

What is RTP?

RTP is short for Return to Player. It’s the term that describes the payback percentage or payout, if you like, of a slot game. With the average RTP rate around the 96% mark for online slot games, you would expect to win £96 back for every £100 you wager on average. (over billions of theoretical spins)

Theoretical RTP
It’s important to note that there is a term known as theoretical RTP. The expected payback is an average and calculated over millions or even billions of spins. If a slot game has a 99% RTP rate, you should not expect to win £99 back for every £100 you wager during a session.

To calculate your RTP rate for a particular session on a slot game, you need to divide your win amount by the wager/stake amount. Here are a couple of scenarios:

  • Win: If you were to wager £100 and win £120, your actual RTP would be 120%
  • Lose: If you were to wager £100 and won £60, your actual RTP would be 60%

The longer you play, the actual RTP should get closer to the theoretical RTP rate. If a slot game’s RTP rate is 96%, the slot site will in theory win 4%. This is calculated over a cycle of billions of spins. You may be the lucky player who walks away with an RTP rate of over 100% but other players will not. This all balances at over a certain number of spins at the theoretical RTP rate.

How to Find a Slot Game’s RTP Rate

There are a few ways to find a slot game’s RTP rate. Firstly, reading the detailed slot reviews at OLBG is one way, but not one site has details on every single online slot game, unfortunately. You could also head to the slot studio’s website.

You’ll find the RTP from the game’s Paytable, Information or Help section within a slot game. Each studio presents the information differently, with some specifying the RTP rate as soon as you fire up the game. Others mention them deep inside the Paytable or from a small information link at the bottom of the game’s screen.

Some slot sites are becoming transparent when it comes to RTP rates. MrQ offers the highest RTP rate on all their slot games. They also display the RTP prominently when firing up a slot game!

Variable RTP Settings

Whilst playing the best RTP slot games is great, you should know that studios or slot providers create multiple RTP versions or settings for their slots. You may have noticed that OLBG specifies 2, 3, 4, 5 or even 6 RTP rates for slot games in our detailed reviews.

RTPs can Change
It’s important to know that slot sites can, if they wish, change the RTP rate at certain times or on certain days without having to announce this publicly. Whilst the RTP can normally be found in a game’s Paytable, some shady operators have been known to switch to the lower RTP rates at busier times.

Each slot site can choose the RTP setting they want for each game. This can drastically influence how much money they make from a slot game and how much you can win.

If I take a look at the most popular online slot game, Play ‘n GO’s Book of Dead, there is a table below showing 5 RTP versions with the difference for both the site and the player based on the wager of £1,000, £1 million or £1 billion:

RTP Rates in Jackpot Slots

If you’re a fan of slot games with progressive jackpots, you’ll notice that their RTP rates tend to be lower than standard slot games. This is because a portion of the RTP rate contributes directly to the jackpots.

The progressive jackpots increase the more players play basically. Below is a table highlighting the RTP allocation for the biggest jackpot slots:

Pros and Cons of High RTP Slots

As with everything, there are both positives and negatives to playing the best RTP slot games. Below I highlight the main pros and cons with the pros outweighing the cons:

Pros

  • Higher chance of winning long-term
  • Your balance should last longer in theory
  • Smaller house edge/margin
  • Found at most UK casino/slot sites

Cons

  • High RTP slots are often excluded from or contribute less towards bonus wagering requirements.
  • Multiple RTP versions available on high RTP slots
