Halloween lands on the 31st of October, but horror slots are a year-round obsession, and after playing every one of these, I've pulled together the 13 best. You'll find vampires, werewolves, evil spirits and a few games inspired by real serial killers, so there's something whether you want a light-hearted spin or genuine dread. Each comes with a free demo slots version, an in-depth review and UK slot sites to play at for real money. One thing worth knowing before you stake: the RTP you get can vary by site.

Different Types of Halloween Slots
Halloween stretches much further than the 31st of October. Celebrated worldwide, you’ll find countless horror films and television series. Movies like The Exorcist, Saw, The Evil Dead, Alien and Beetlejuice are iconic.
There has also been a surge of true crime and serial killer documentaries which have played their part in popularising Halloween-inspired slots. They stimulate mental and physical effects which can lead to fear, anxiety, joy and even excitement.
Below, you’ll find a list of the various types of Halloween slot games you’ll encounter at slot and casino sites:
- 🧟 Zombie Slots: Films like Night of the Living Dead and Shaun of the Dead as well as TV series such as The Walking Dead make zombie slot games very popular. Playtech’s The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, 4ThePlayer’s 1 Left Alive, Quickspin’s Cabin Crashers and Pragmatic Play’s Zombie School Megaways are good options.
- 🧛 Vampire Slots: With movies such as Twilight and The Lost Boys, there are various vampire slots such as Push Gaming’s Fat Drac, Hacksaw Gaming’s Immortal Desire and Play ‘n GO’s Wild Blood.
- 💀 Day of the Dead Slots: Celebrated the world over, it’s closely linked to Halloween and has inspired several slot studios with games such as Thunderkick’s Esqueleto Explosivo 3, Yggdrasil Gaming’s Calavera Crush and Play ‘n GO’s Muerto en Mictlan popular options.
- 👻 Ghost Slots: Popularised by films such as Ghostbusters, ghost-inspired games include Play ‘n GO’s Ghost of Dead, Quickspin’s Ghost Glyph and IGT’s Ghostbusters Plus (official game).
- 🐺 Werewolf Slots: I particularly like Pragmatic Play’s Curse of the Werewolf Megaways, NetEnt’s Blood Suckers 2 and Playtech’s Full Moon Fortunes.
- ⚰️ Horror Slots: There are countless generic Horror-themed games like Skywind’s Alive! Megaways (inspired by Frankenstein), Nolimit City’s Beheaded and Hacksaw Gaming’s Dark Summoning.
- 🧙♀️ Witch Slots: Witches are also popular with 4ThePlayer’s 3 Lucky Witches, Microgaming’s Mega Moolah: The Witches’ Moon and of course Playtech’s Halloween Fortune.
- 🩸 Serial Killer Slots: The rise of slot games based on notorious serial killers is on the rise with Nolimit City releasing Serial, Disturbed and Kiss My Chainsaw.
- 🕸️ Mummy Slots: Playtech’s The Mummy: Books of Amun Ra is the official game from the iconic film series. You also have Play ‘n GO’s Legacy of Dead and Rise of Dead.
- 🎥 Branded Slots: Many slot providers have released official/branded games with licenses from movies or TV series. They include The Walking Dead (Playtech), Lordi Reel Monsters (Play ‘n GO) and Beetlejuice Megaways (Light & Wonder).
Top Studios for Horror-Themed Slots
Not every studio does horror well. Some treat it as a reskin (i.e. swap the fruit for pumpkins and call it a Halloween game) while a handful have made genuine fear part of their identity. These are the ones I look to first when I want a scare:
- Nolimit City: the undisputed kings of horror. No studio pushes theme and volatility harder. Serial, Mental, Disturbed and Possessed are as dark as mainstream slots get, drawing on asylums, exorcisms and real serial killers, and they're built on genuinely original mechanics (xWays, xNudge, Enhancer Cells) rather than borrowed ones. The trade-off is brutal volatility, so treat them as high-risk, but for sheer atmosphere and win potential nobody else comes close. It's my go-to studio for the theme.
- Shady Lady: the most exciting newcomer in horror. A young studio that's arrived fully formed, with Devil's Finger, Sew and Brainwashed all landing in quick succession. What sets them apart is that horror clearly comes first: the backstories, artwork and sound are built to disturb, and the maths follows. If you want something fresh rather than another vampire rethread, they're one of the studios I'm watching most closely.
- Print Studios: the specialists in mood. Darkness and its sequel Dreadworks share a clever signature touch: you can adjust how dark the game actually looks, dialling the dread up or down. Pair that with the SuperSpinner multipliers running through both, and you get horror slots that feel crafted rather than churned out.
- Hacksaw Gaming: style and invention in equal measure. Evil Eyes, Immortal Desire and Dark Summoning show a studio that dresses horror in slick, distinctive art and rarely leans on tired mechanics. Their ‘Le’ series and wider catalogue have made them one of the most consistent names in the space.
- Big Time Gaming: the Megaways originators, and still worth a look for horror. Castle of Terror puts their 4,096-ways engine behind a Transylvanian vampire theme with an unlimited multiplier in the free spins. Simpler than a Nolimit City game, but it hits hard when it lands.
- Pragmatic Play: the volume giant, and more accessible with it. Pragmatic don't chase extreme volatility the way the other studios do: instead they bring horror to a wider audience with polished, easy-to-play games like Curse of the Werewolf Megaways and Hell Butcher. If the Nolimit City end of the scale feels too punishing, Pragmatic is a good place to enjoy the theme without the white-knuckle swings.
