I break betting odds news as it happens, so you’re never left behind when the market moves or a top offer lands.

  • Henry Cavill's odds to be the next James Bond have been dramatically cut from 20/1 to 9/4 by William Hill in the past 48 hours
  • Callum Turner remains the long-time favourite for the role, priced at 11/10
  • Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jack Lowden share third favouritism at 6/1, with several other names still firmly in contention

Dramatic Shift In The Betting

Few casting markets generate quite as much sustained interest as the search for the next James Bond, and UK betting sites are currently witnessing one of the biggest moves seen in this market for some time.

William Hill have dramatically slashed Henry Cavill's odds to play 007 next, cutting his price from 20/1 all the way into 9/4 within the space of just 48 hours, a shift significant enough to place him firmly in contention behind long-time favourite Callum Turner.

Despite Cavill's dramatic surge, Callum Turner continues to hold top spot in the betting, priced at 11/10.

Turner has been strongly linked with the role for some time now, and his continued position as favourite suggests the market still views him as the most likely choice overall.

The Scale Of The Move

To fully appreciate just how significant this shift has been, it's worth looking at the journey Cavill's price has taken.

Having sat at 20/1 as recently as two days ago, sustained betting interest saw him cut first to 8/1, before continuing to shorten to 9/2 and eventually down to his current price.

That strongly suggests genuine conviction behind the bets being placed rather than a single speculative flutter.

Rest Of The Field

Beyond the top two, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jack Lowden share third favouritism at 6/1, both continuing to be regularly mentioned names throughout this long-running casting saga.

Harris Dickinson follows at 8/1, while Louis Partridge is priced at 10/1. Jacob Elordi rounds out the currently listed contenders at 12/1, giving the market a genuinely varied spread of both established and emerging talent.

Cavill moving in the odds seems strange, with all the latest updates suggesting that producers will go for a younger Bond this time around to give the actor many movies in the franchise.

What the expert says...
What's fascinating is Cavill's previously said he's not interested, yet the market clearly doesn't believe that rules him out. Turner's still favourite for good reason, the speculation around him has been consistent for a while now, but I wouldn't be shocked if Cavill overtakes him if this momentum continues into next week.
