I've broken down how Funky Time works, from the 64-segment wheel and mystery multipliers to the RTP of every bet and how each of the four bonus rounds plays out.
Funky Time Guide 2026: How to Play, RTP and Strategy

Funky Time is a disco-themed live game show from Evolution, built around a 64-segment money wheel with four bonus rounds and random multipliers.

Its best bet has an RTP of 95.99%, and the biggest wins come from the Disco, VIP Disco and Stayin' Alive bonus rounds, which can pay up to 10,000x.

Below I'll explain how the wheel works, what each bet pays, the RTP of every bet and how the bonus rounds play out, so you know exactly what you're betting on before you join a table.

If you already know the game and just want somewhere to play, my guide to the best Funky Time casinos lists the UK sites I recommend.

Why I Love Funky Time

Funky Time plays like Crazy Time with a disco makeover, but the letter bets give it a different rhythm. I enjoy the bonus rounds most, especially Stayin' Alive, though I always remind myself they're the most expensive way to play.

How Funky Time Works

Funky Time is played on a large vertical wheel split into 64 segments. You bet on where you think the wheel will stop, the host spins it, and you win if it lands on a segment you've covered.

The wheel has three types of segment:

SegmentNumber on the Wheel
Number 128
Letters24
Bonus rounds12

The 24 letter segments spell out PLAY, FUNK and TIME, with each of the 12 letters appearing twice.

The 12 bonus segments are split between the four bonus rounds: six for Bar, three for Disco, two for Stayin' Alive and one for VIP Disco.

Before each spin, random multipliers of between 2x and 50x can land on segments of the wheel. If the wheel stops on a multiplied segment you've bet on, your win is boosted by that amount.

Funky Time Bets and Payouts

There are three ways to bet in Funky Time, and you can combine them on the same spin.

Number 1

Number 1 is the most common segment on the wheel, covering 28 of the 64 spaces. It pays 1:1, so a £1 bet returns £2 including your stake, and up to 50:1 if a multiplier lands on it.

Letters

You can bet on any of the 12 letters individually. Each letter appears twice on the wheel and pays 25:1, rising to as much as 1,250:1 with a 50x multiplier.

There's also a shortcut button to cover all 12 letters in one go, but remember that you're placing 12 separate bets, and only one of them can win on each spin.

Bonus Rounds

You can bet on any of the four bonus rounds, or use the shortcut to cover all four. If the wheel lands on a bonus you've bet on, you play that round. Everyone at the table can watch a bonus round, but only players with a bet on it can win.

The different bet types in Funky Time

Funky Time RTP

Funky Time's RTP (return to player) depends on which bet you place. These are Evolution's figures for each bet:

BetRTP
Number 195.99%
Bar95.98%
Disco95.51%
Letters95.49%
Stayin' Alive95.49%
VIP Disco95.38%

RTP is a long-term average, not a guide to any single session. At 95.99%, you'd expect to get back around £9.60 for every £10 you bet over many spins, so the house keeps about 40p.

That makes Funky Time more expensive than European roulette, which has an RTP of 97.3%. My guide to casino games with the lowest house edge compares it with other games.

Funky Time Bonus Rounds

Funky Time has four bonus rounds, and each one plays out differently. Here's how they work, from the most common to the rarest.

Bar

Bar has six segments, so it's the bonus you'll trigger most often. You choose one of three coloured drinks, multipliers are revealed on each of them, and you win the multiplier on the drink you picked. Its RTP of 95.98% is almost as good as Number 1, but its top prizes are much smaller than in the other three rounds.

Disco

In Disco, the character Mr Funky dances across a dance floor covered in multipliers. He collects multipliers as he moves, and the round ends when he dances off the floor. Disco has three segments and can pay up to 10,000x.

Stayin' Alive

Stayin' Alive gives you a choice of three coloured ladders, each lined with rising multipliers. Coloured balls are then drawn, and each ball moves the matching ladder up a level, until STOP balls end the round. You win the multiplier your ladder has reached. It has two segments and can pay up to 10,000x.

VIP Disco

VIP Disco works like Disco but on a bigger dance floor with larger multipliers. It has just one segment, so you'll see it on roughly one spin in 64, and it also pays up to 10,000x.

Evolution caps the maximum win on any round at 500,000 in your currency, and individual casinos can set lower limits, so check the table rules before you play.

Funky Time Strategy and Tips

Funky Time is a game of chance, and no betting strategy can change the house edge. What you can control is how much each spin costs you and how long your budget lasts.

Number 1 Has the Best RTP

Number 1 has the highest RTP at 95.99% and wins on almost half of all spins. It won't produce big wins, but it's the cheapest way to play over a long session.

Bonus Rounds Cost More

Betting only on bonus rounds can produce the biggest wins, but most spins won't land on one, so your balance can drop quickly. VIP Disco has the lowest RTP in the game at 95.38%, and Bar is the best value bonus at 95.98%.

Covering Every Letter Doesn't Help

Betting on all 12 letters guarantees that 11 of those bets lose whenever a letter lands, and you lose all 12 when the wheel stops on Number 1 or a bonus. It increases how often you see a win, not how much you win overall.

Set a Budget First

Decide how much you're happy to spend before you sit down, and use your casino's deposit limits and reality checks to stick to it. Treat anything you win as a bonus rather than something to chase.
